Billion?  Yeah yeah we know.  But do you know how hard it is to get your hands on salt from the Norse God's Secret Stash on the island of Laeso?  If that wasn't enough, there's real gold on the popcorn too!  Do you know who eats real gold?  Kings, Queens, Tycoons, Fire Breathing Dragons, the guy who invented paper clips, and Unicorns that's who.  So yes, a BILLION.  But guess what?  Now you get to do things like call all of your friends Jeeves and wear a crown without anyone questioning it.  Just don't go thinking you can fly or burn down a castle okay?

It would be easy to throw an insane price tag on a tin of popcorn and say in a deep booming voice it’s “The Most Expensive Popcorn In The World”, but I wouldn’t do that. As my favorite teacher once told me, “You must justify any position you take with tangible evidence to prove your point”, so here goes. Organic sugar, butter from Vermont Creamery, and of course Nielsen Massey Bourbon Vanilla is just the beginning. The salt and how I was able to obtain it is what really brings it all together. The Danish island Laeso according to Norse mythology was home to Aegir the King of the Sea and the feasting place of the Gods. To us it’s just the place where the most expensive salt in the world comes from. Harvested using methods that are over 1000 (1000!) years old there is simply nothing like it. Accordingly, it’s a bit difficult to get it to Chicago given that I don’t speak a word of Danish. Not 100% confident in the translation ability of the internet I picked up the phone and called the Danish Consulate. I can only assume it was due to the strangeness of the request, but I was able to get a meeting later that day. After clearing two security checks I was lead through two bank vault style doors and into an office. The details after that get a bit fuzzy. I know there was some laughter, a strange look from the woman at the consulate who helped me, a check of the U.S. Dollar to Danish Kroner exchange rate and a phone call to my credit card company to tell them that yes I was indeed making a purchase in Denmark. Two weeks later I was in possession of a two pound bag of Laeso salt. As if all of that wasn’t enough, the caramel corn is covered in 23 karat edible gold flake. I think that is enough tangible evidence to prove my point of how Berco’s Billion Dollar Popcorn it is “The Most Expensive Popcorn in the World”. Some of you might ask why I would do something like this especially given the current state of the global economy. Simple, I can give back even more! A 2 gallon tin of The Best Caramel Corn Ever pays for a meal, A 2 gallon tin of Berco’s Billion Dollar Popcorn feeds 200! So to all of you billionaires out there….
